Exhibition "Amber Art"

Event duration:
from 27 October 2021 to 12 December 2021

An exhibition "Amber Art" has been opened in the Kaliningrad Regional Amber Museum. It presents works of decorative, applied and jewellery art from the museum's collection.

In the display, one can see artworks created in the 1990–2010s by artists from China, Denmark, France, Germany, Japan, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, and the USA. These items, that enriched the museum's collection as result of its active project and exhibitional work during the last two decades, show the variety of methods, approaches, and traditions in working the sunstone formed in different national centres.

Decorative and physical properties of amber allow using it fro making art works using such techniques as carving, polishing, pressing, colouring, composed and Florentine mosaics, etc. Today, as also in the ancientry, the Baltic gem is used to create objects of decorative, applied and jewellery art, and nowadays, the latest technologies give the possibility to make such items that are second to none neither in appearance, nor in technique of execution.

At the exhibition, there will be shown works made both by authors with a great experience in the works with amber, and made by those, who hasn't known about amber until recently. Among sources of the foreign artists collection development, the special role is played by the International Biennial of Amber Art Works "Alatyr"that has been systematically held since 2005, the annual project "The Violet Street: from Paris to Kaliningrad", specialised exhibitions of works by Danish, Lithuanian, Italian, Chinese, Polish, and Japanese artists organised by the Amber Museum.

The exhibition will work until 12 December.
