Meeting with Tomislav Šola

For a year and a half the Amber Museum has been negotiating about the visit to Kaliningrad of the Croatian researcher of the world renown, international expert in the sphere of museum studies, founder of the European festival "The Best in Heritage" Tomislav Šola.  Goal of the visit – to get acquainted with the museum community of the city and region, as well as to establish new cultural connections.

On 16 May the Amber Museum gates were wide open to welcome the researcher we have waited for so long. Tomislav Šola met the museum's team and watched the exposition.

Visit of the world famous museologist has been timed to the Night of Museums – the action dedicated to the International Day of Museums.

On 18 May, at 10.00 in Congress Hall of the Museum of the World Ocean, the lecture "Can museums make the world better?" takes place for museum specialists and cultural workers. Then, its participants will be able to discuss relevant issues of the museum theory and practice within the round table.

Idea author and organizer of the Tomislav Šola's visit to Kaliningrad is the Chief Research Associate of the Kaliningrad Regional Amber Museum, PhD Irina Polyakova. Co-organizers of the visit programme of the Croatian researcher are the Museum of the World Ocean, Kaliningrad Regional Museum of History and Arts,  Atlantic Branch of the P.P. Shirshov Institute of Oceanology. Russian Academy of Sciences.
